COME ON LAMBETH. PLASTIC RECYCLING IS A MYTH!
Phili heads to the council
January 2025
It’s time for Lambeth Council to take more and faster steps to tackle single-use plastics within the borough and within its own operations.
Council communications always focus on recycling and I’d like them to work harder at reducing waste in the first place within the borough. Plastic recycling simply does not work and is not an effective solution to our waste. Now that we can’t ship it off to other countries to deal with, more and more is being incinerated which is a disaster for our climate.

Thank you to everyone who signed in their support of this with me. I was finally able to attend a council meeting to give a Deputation in July 2025 where I urged them to take more action on this crucial issue. I was kindly supported by my partner, Adam and Nathalie Lees of Plastic Free Streatham.

I received the following response from the Council in September 2025. What do you think? Still a lot of work to do in my view and much more action that can be taken. (And they think I'm a man!!)
