What will I learn?

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of visible mending jeans using sashiko repair techniques. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery method that uses simple stitches to create beautiful patterns and designs on the fabric. You will learn how to: 

• Prepare the jeans for mending by trimming the tear, finding fabrics to match it, and pinning it in place

• Learn how to secure patch before adding decorative stitches

• Design and draw the stitching lines

• Learn the Sashiko and Kantha stitches to add interest and detail to your jeans

You will see some examples of visible mending jeans that will inspire you to create your own unique style. A range of patterns will be available ready to trace.
